«Addio addio amore. A piece for Pina»

Direction – Choreography: Daphnis Kokkinos The solo performance «Addio Addio Amore», is going to take place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 of July 2014, at 21:00, at Carob Mill Art & Cultural Centre (Charoupomillos), Panormo. In a passionate and moving dance theatre performance, Daphnis Kokkinos, collaborator of Pina Bausch for 24 years, reveals the stories, experiences, anecdotes, exchanges and dreams that he shared with Pina in this tribute to her work and life. During the performance, Daphnis is collaborating with a dancer during a short tango on stage. «Addio Addio Amore», is an homage to Pina in which Daphnis raises a glass ‘chin, chin..’ and stimulates the audience with situations of humanity in his continuing exploration of human vicissitudes. His performance is an offering for all Pina gave in love, respect, humour and artistry to her colleagues, performers and the world. His first solo work is full of compassion, respect, humour, imagination and care. A passionate and emotional performance or better, a one-way ticket to a reflective journey through Greece, Japan, India, France, South America, and most importantly, life itself. “I don’t care that much about how people move, rather than what deeply moves them”. This phrase of the German choreographer Pina Βausch sums up her own model of creation or her own way of perceiving her art. Her aesthetics is mainly based on a philosophical perception of human existence and she urges us to define the source of “emotion” by amending the form and substance of her work, beyond aesthetic laws and academic categorizations. Right after the performance, an open discussion of Daphnis with the audience will follow. Daphnis Kokkinos is born in Heraklion of Crete in 1965 –he is the youngest of six brothers.
