We are an independant creative arts residency running for the second year. This year we bring you a collaboration of dance, music and art for immersive performance, film and photography project.
AIM OF THE RESIDENCY
The aim of the residency is to bring together a group of international artists who are inspired to share, grow and fuse their individual practice with other disciplines within the arts. The residency invites dancers, musicians and visual artists for a collaboration with film & photography. The body of the work is the movement of the dancers, supported and inspired by the musicians, taking inspiration from each other and the culture of the village; together we will work to create material to be performed and filmed within and around the village of Panormo.
The week will be directed by dancers and founders of the residency Venus Jones & Melissa Guex.
The residency is a workshop that feeds directly into a creative project. Venus and Melissa will lead morning class and improvisation sessions for the dancers and will guide the group through the 8 days of collaboration.
Musicians are visual artists are invited to collaborate with the dancers, to inspire and be inspired by the movement and creation. We give you the space to develop your practice with other artists & musicians, to exhibit your work and perform your music live as part of the immersive performance experience within the village. Musicians & visual artists are invited to participate in the group exercises run by Venus & Melissa throughout the week.
FILM & PHOTOGRAPHY
The residency is collaborating with photographer & film maker Laurence Ellis. Recent works on a film for The Royal Ballet inspired Laurence to further collaborte with dance for film & photography.
WHEN
– Arrival day Friday 30th June 2017.
– The work of residency starts on Saturday 1st July.
– The residency finishes on Saturday 8th of July.
– Departure on Sunday 9th of July.
WHERE
The residency takes place at the Arts Centre of Haroupomilos – The Carob Mill Arts Centre. An ex-carob mill factory that has been converted to a beautiful and inspiring space for the arts. It is located at the traditional and beautiful village of Panormo, in Crete. Nearest Airport is Heraklion.

WHAT DOES THE RESIDENCY PROVIDE
The residency provides accommodation (included in the price), participants will stay in shared apartments of 5 persons at The Castelli Studios. www.castelliapartments.com This is situation just 5 minutes walk away from the arts centre where we will work.
Organic breakfast is also provided (included in the price), and will be served every morning at the Arts Centre.
Lunch and dinner is not provided (and is not included in the price), but vouchers will be provided which will offer generous discounts to a local taverna. There is a super market in the village and participants have their own kitchen in their accommodation if they wish to prepare their own food.
Discounted massage and reiki sessions will be provided for the visiting artists of the residency with Konstantinos – the local practitioner.
SCHEDULE
Breakfast at 9.00
Morning session: 10.30 – 14.00
Break: 14.00 – 17.00 (for lunch, rest, integration time, sea time – two beautiful beaches just 5 minutes walk from the arts centre – this time may also be used for participants own research and development of their practice for the project)
Evening session: 17.00 – 20.30
(Time schedule might change according to the needs of the group/rehearsals and performance)
